Individuals looking to invest in student insurance may want to take note of one expert's advice on how to boost graduate job prospects.

Mike Barnard, product manager at Milkround, explained how employers are far more interested in people who have carried out relevant work experience during their time at university.

He claimed undertaking a placement or internship while studying shows an individual is serious about their career and driven to succeed.

"Those who do graduate with no work experience are on the back foot, because it looks as if they're trying to jump straight into an industry or job," Mr Barnard claimed.

It was suggested spending time in a person's favoured industry is "as vital as ever" in helping them to stand out from other applicants.

A recent report from High Fliers' Graduate Market revealed 36 per cent of vacancies are likely to be filled by those who did work experience for the firm in question while at university.
