Individuals looking to purchase cheap university insurance may be surprised to hear new figures show an increasing number of students are not concerned by being in debt.

Research from money education charity Credit Action revealed 36 per cent of young people see owing money as a "normal" part of attending higher education.

It was also found that 46 per cent of university attendees have never had a discussion or advice passed to them by parents or relatives about personal finance.

Michelle Highman, chief executive officer of Credit Action, said: "I am very concerned that many prospective students are sleep-walking into significant debt, which is now the norm for most students."

However, the survey showed some awareness of budgeting, with 65 per cent of respondents concerned about their ability to cope with money and finances when at university.

He recommended opening with a punchy line that will grab the attention of the reader.
