Angling insurance customers may have been among those who gathered on the banks of the River Tay to celebrate the start of the salmon fishing season.
A large crowd attended the traditional ceremony which marked the opening of the 2012 season, with football's Steve Lomas bestowed the honour of making the first cast.
William Jack, chairman of the Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board, described the turnout as "excellent" and praised the members of the community involved in ensuring the occasion was a success.
"At long last those of us who are really keen on angling are allowed to start fishing again," he stated.
Inkeeping with tradition, Mr Jack doused the rowing boats on the river with whisky, while bagpipers led onlookers from the Hilton Dunkeld House Hotel to the stretch of water.
The salmon fishing season will run throughout spring and summer until mid October, when it will be suspended until January 2013.
