A fundraiser from Hemel Hempstead may want to take out golf equipment insurance ahead of a charity challenge.

School caretaker John Bird told the Watford Observer how he is hoping to hit 7,500 golf balls in 24 hours to raise money for Cancer Research.

He is scheduled to undertake the feat at TopGolf driving range on Saturday July 2nd and Sunday July 3rd.

In order to successfully complete the challenge, he will have to hit more than five golf balls per minute.

Explaining his motivation for taking part in the event, Mr Bird said: “After my sister was diagnosed with cancer, I knew I wanted to do something to help.

“Running isn’t my thing, so I thought this would be something different. I’m hoping to raise about £1,000.”

The driving range has 11 targets ranging from 25 to 250 yards away that golfers will usually aim for when practicing their drive.
