- Liverpool Cathedral witnesses ‘smallest wedding’

One couple's wedding insurance policy may have been rather simple, as they held what is believed to be the smallest nuptials ever hosted by Liverpool's Metropolitan Cathedral.
Sylvia Holden and Kevin Newman tied the knot at the iconic venue in a ceremony witnessed by just two guests, the Liverpool Echo reports.
"It is probably the smallest wedding the cathedral has seen – you couldn't get any smaller because you have to have two witnesses," Dean Anthony O'Brien stated.
He added that it is quite unusual to have such a low-key event, as most brides and grooms have their families and friends involved.
Along with the couple and Dean O'Brien, the only other people involved were Ms Holden's sister Pauline Stevenson and her husband Brian.
The cathedral was designed by Sir Frederick Gibberd and building work began in October 1962, with the venue consecrated in 1967 on the Feast of Pentecost.
