One man who is likely to have invested in a cycle insurance policy is Chinese farmer Chen Guanming who has travelled 60,000km to be in London for the Olympic Games.
The intrepid cyclist pedalled across 16 countries in order to arrive in the capital in time for the start of the sporting event.
It has taken the Chinaman two years to get to his final destination after directing his rickshaw through flooded lands, war zones, mountain passes and -30 degrees C conditions.
Mr Chen, who speaks no English, explained through an interpreter how he was inspired to "spread the Olympic spirit" after watching London's mayor accept the Olympic flag in 2008.
To mark his journey, Mr Chen collected photographs of himself posing in front of international landmarks, while he also carried a banner explaining how he was on a 140,000km journey that included China.
Mr Chen arrived in London on July 6th and is sure to be eager to watch the start of the London 2012 Olympics that start today (July 27th).
