- Caravan insurance ‘is a wise investment’

Brits looking to purchase their first mobile home have been advised to ensure they invest in caravan insurance.
Tim Shallcross, head of policy at the Institute of Advanced Motorists, explained how this will mean property is protected in case of a robbery or damage.
The expert claimed it is a "very good idea" to have a unit covered by insurance, as well as registered on the national scheme.
Individuals were advised that their car insurer will need to be informed if their vehicle is to be used to tow a caravan, as modifications need to be made.
For instance, a towbar will have to be properly fitted if a car does not already have one and extra or extended mirrors may need to be attached to the vehicle.
Mr Shallcross' comments follow a recent study by Nissan that revealed 20 per cent of towers have only taken up the pastime in the last six months.
