The Matlock Mercury reports how players aged between eight and 21 will take to the stage in three bands on February 25th and 26th, in order to rehearse for the first time together.

A week later on March 4th, the youngsters will perform to the public at the annual Bandwise event, which has been running for more than ten years.

An array of instruments will be on display, from clarinets to trombones, horns, saxophones, bassoons, flutes, oboes and cornets.

Music ranging from The Best of Glee to well known classical pieces will be showcased by the performers, who vary in ability from beginners to advanced.

Those interested in joining Music For Everyone, which organises the event, may be interested to hear how the organisation has more than 25 years experience.

Alex Thomson took advantage of ideal wave and weather conditions to leap on to the keel of his yacht when it was exposed horizontally out of the water.

Dressed in a black suit with a white shirt and tie, the 37-year-old posed with a gin and tonic in an attempt to appear like the classic secret agent James Bond, which has been played by actors such as Roger Moore, Daniel Craig and Sean Connery.

In order to board the keel, Mr Thomson required a jet-ski to drop him off just as the 8.2 tonne yacht swung into position.

The stunt required very specific conditions including a wind speed of 17 to 19 knots, a sailing speed of nine knots and waves of between 50cm and 1.25 meters.

Mr Thomson claimed it is the second time he has performed the daredevil manoeuvre, but it has never before been caught on camera.

One of the men, Aodhan Kelly, told the Gazette and Herald how he and his crew mates were knocked overboard when their craft the Sara G capsized in stormy waters.

The team were 27 days into a world record attempt to row across the ocean when the incident occurred.

They had departed from Morocco and were almost at their final destination of Barbados.

Using their satellite phone, the men put out a Mayday call and were rescued after 14 hours adrift in the water.

The Panamanian flagged cargo ship the Nord Taipei picked the crew up after they were found waiting for rescue in their liferaft.

Mr Kelly spoke of the team's disappointment at having to drop out of the Atlantic Odyssey competition, which aimed to find one crew that could break the sub-30 day barrier of rowing to the Caribbean.

Just weeks after announcing her engagement to NFL player Jay Cutler was back on, the TV personality revealed she was pregnant.

However, it seems the bride-to-be has no plans to walk down the aisle while expecting, as she told Celebuzz she has put all nuptial arrangements to one side.

"I'm not even looking for a wedding dress right now. I'm pregnant! I'm not going to go try on wedding dresses," Cavallari stated.

Instead the blonde may be browsing baby stores with Cutler, as they prepare for the birth of their first child later this year.

The sports star proposed to Cavallari early last year, before breaking off the engagement in July.

Despite the fact that his former fiancee was reported to have been devastated by the news, it seems Cavallari was willing to forgive him and the engagement is now back on.

Police community support officer Tony Hemming told the Cornish Guardian how he plans to host an event entitled Mevagissey's Got Talent.

Children aged between 11 and 17 years old will be able to enter the contest and it is open to those who play instruments regularly, as well as beginners.

Mr Hemming said: "There's a good chance we have a lot of musical talent in the village just waiting to be discovered."

Those without instruments will be able to use the drums, guitars and electrical keyboards owned by Mevagissey Activity Centre free of charge.

The first session of the competition will start at 14:00 GMT on February 14th.

Mr Hemming may have been inspired by the annual national contest Britain's Got Talent, which last year featured judges Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell, David Hasselhoff and Michael McIntyre.

According to the Daily Mail, the star and her fiance Ian Minton are to tie the knot in May, three years after they announced their engagement.

Mr Minton popped the question during a holiday in the Maldives in 2009 and the pair are said to have at last decided to host their ceremony in Merseyside.

A source claimed Merna is planning to have her on-screen family as her bridesmaids, with Jennifer Metcalfe, Jorgie Porter and Nicole Barber Lane taking on the roles.

The trio play Mercedes, Theresa and Myra McQueen respectively in the long-running Channel 4 soap.

Merna is alleged to have told friends: "I am so excited, we have been planning our special day for the past six months and can't wait to enjoy it with all of our friends and family."

Sharron Livingston, editor for thetravelmagazine.net, explained how a selection of consumer reviews should be studied before an opinion is formed about a destination.

"Like everything else, you can't believe everything you read," she stated, adding that it is important to consider the "overall message" rather than a single comment.

According to Ms Livingston, forums often carry remarks made by "unscrupulous reviewers who have an agenda or axe to grind".

Therefore, holidaymakers should not base their travel plans on one bad comment, but instead look at the general consensus of a variety of visitors.

It was suggested that some people will genuinely want to share their experiences and this should be remembered when factoring whether a destination meets an individual's tastes and needs.

Ms Livingston's comments come after TripAdvisor was recently ordered to rewrite some of its marketing claims by the UK's Advertising Standards Agency.

Five men had to be saved from the sea after the Girl Rona vessel overturned in the entrance of Teignmouth harbour.

The local RNLI lifeboat was launched to help with the rescue operation and a tug boat was required to help tow the craft to shore.

It is understood the vessel had been carrying 2,000 gallons of diesel and nearly 20 tonnes of fish, which had to be dumped from the boat.

Before it could be towed into the harbour, water had to be pumped from the Girl Rona and the vessel refloated.

Tony Watson, spokesman for the lifeboat station, said: "She was coming down the main channel in to the harbour and was hit by a big wave and overturned.

"She didn't sink but is resting on her side."

Elsewhere, STV recently reported how a coastguard helicopter had to rescue three men when a fishing boat ran aground on Sule Skerry off the Orkney coast.

The BBC reports how Inland Fisheries Ireland has taken the step of fitting the devices at a lake in Lough Egish in County Monaghan in order to deter poachers.

Ronan O'Brien, assistant inspector with the agency, explained how illegal activity has increased in recent years and is becoming a real problem.

"Poaching is more organised, there are organised groups who net rivers and lakes using methods other than rods or lines, such as bottles or floats with hooks attached, long lines, set lines," he stated.

However, it is hoped the CCTV cameras will help the agency to catch individuals in the act, with instant messages alerting the body when a device has been triggered.

Inland Fisheries Ireland aims to ensure the natural resources of the sea, rivers and lakes are conserved and managed for the benefit of the community and environment.

The Ludlow and Tenbury Wells Advertiser reports bookings are currently being taken for the five-star Ludlow Touring Park, which will be unveiled in May.

Set in 20-acres of land, the 135-pitch site is situated alongside the River Teme and has been developed by Shrewsbury-based Morris Leisure.

Managing director at the company Edward Goddards said: "It's an exciting time for everyone associated with the new park, which is generating an incredible amount of interest from caravanners and motor home owners from across the UK."

The park's opening date has been timed to coincide with the Beer, Bangers and Bread Ludlow Spring Food Festival.

Returning for its fourth year, the event will feature over 140 real ales on draught from small breweries in Wales and the Marches, as well as locally produced food.
