Jeremy Irvine, star of Steven Spielberg movie War Horse, had never ridden before he was cast in the picture, equine insurance customers might be surprised to hear.
The actor told the Daily Mail that he was not an animal person and had no experience with horses.
“During the audition process I tried to brush up on that,” he said.
Irvine, who plays the role of Albert – the farmer’s son who goes to the World War One trenches to find his hoofed companion – said he worked in a local stable during the audition stage.
However, his crash course in horses truly started when he was given the role and sent for two months of training.
Horse insurance customers who want to see him in action on the silver screen will be able to watch the film in UK cinemas from January 13th 2012.
A theatre production of War Horse directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris is currently running at the New London Theatre.
