The importance of taking out caravan insurance may have been highlighted by the news of a blaze in Leyland.
Fire fighters were called to an incident at a block of flats at 03:00 BST on Saturday (May 28th), the Lancashire Evening Post reports.
According to police, a caravan had been deliberately set alight and the flames engulfed the two-storey building.
The two occupants of the flats were not injured in the incident, due to the ground-floor tenant being out at the time, while the other resident managed to escape before the fire spread.
Detective Sergeant John Cass, of South Ribble CID, explained how it was fortunate the elderly lady had woken up.
“If she had not she would have still been in bed and we would have been dealing with a fatal house fire,” he stated.
Elsewhere, the Argus recently reported how a man living in Turners Hill near Crawley rescued a 76-year-old woman from a caravan fire.
