- Fisherman fined after boat runs aground

The skipper of a fishing vessel that was run aground when an employee fell asleep at the helm may be hoping his boat insurance will cover the damage caused.
A coastguard helicopter had to rescue three crew members when the Reliant struck the shore on Sule Skerry off the Orkney coast, STV reports.
Control of the craft was handed to crewman David Smith when the skipper went for a nap, but he was also drowsy as he had failed to sleep during his allotted break time.
Instead he admitted watching news coverage of the Japanese tsunami and was charged at Kirkwall Sheriff Court with failing to keep a proper lookout.
He was ordered to pay a £1,600 fine and maritime and coastguard agency area operations manager Thomas Robinson said the incident was a "serious breach of the international regulations for the prevention of collisions at sea".
Elsewhere, the Daily Telegraph recently reported how several boats in the Alaskan city of Cordova sank following a period of heavy snowfall.
